Skills USA Colorado State Competition for Cosmetologists, Barbers, Estheticians, and Nail Technicians was held at International Salon and Spa Academy on April 19th. Students from International Salon and Spa Academy’s High School and College programs participated. Each student had to present a prepared resume, take a written Skills USA knowledge test, and a written knowledge test for their program. Each Cosmetology and Barber student had to complete an updo style, a 180 degree long layer haircut with style, a 90 degree haircut with style and a men’s clipper fade cut and style. Estheticians completed a basic facial, basic makeup, and fantasy makeup. Nail Technicians completed a basic manicure, Acrylic demonstration, and Nail Art.

ISSA Esthetic college student Kjersten Roberts won 2nd place for Esthetics
ISSA Hairstylist High School student Madison Heimlich won 1st place for Cosmetology.
ISSA High School team won the leadership competition for Opening and Closing Ceremonies. This team consisted of Madison Heimlich, Jamie Allen, Daisy Pavon, Katherine Norton, Norma Morales, Alondra Hermosillo, and Mackenzie Mahla
Madison will be competing at the Skills USA Nationals in June in Louisville Kentucky.
